Today we celebrate the life of Anthony Dansby, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew cousin and friend whose life was taken far too soon at the age of 21. Born on August 28, 2004, in Boston, Massachusetts, Anthony brought joy laughter and love to everyone blessed to know him.
Anthony was the cherished son of Cequesta Dellarosijah-Singleton and Anthony Dansby, Sr. He was a loving brother to Imanie Conkle (husband Thomas), Nevaeh Sampson, and Ny-Jaya Sampson. Anthony shared an unbreakable bond with his family, always bringing warmth, humor and comfort wherever he went.
Anthony was preceded in death by his grandparents Renee Dansby, Kenneth Townsend and Victor Sampson, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his grandmother Cequesta Barton-Sampson, along with a large and loving family who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his uncles, Aaron Sampson, David Sampson (wife Shanta), Victor Sampson (wife Kisha), John Sampson, Anthony Sampson, Judah Townsend and Shawn Dansby; and his aunts, Tanisha Sampson, Mary-Jane DeJarnette, Latricia Turner (husband Eric) and Sari Townsend.
Anthony also leaves behind many loving cousins including Victor, Jr., Charles, Eli, Zachariah and Zion Sampson, John Jr. and Jeremiah Williams and Amari Townsend. He shared an especially close and exceptional bond with his cousins Anthony, Jr. (“AJ”) and Malachi Sampson.
Anthony was educated through the Boston Public School Department and graduated from Charlestown High School. During his school years, he played lacrosse in middle school and formed lasting friendships with classmates and staff who loved him dearly, especially Mr. Leiper, Peter, and Ms. Jordan.
Anthony had a heart full of creativity and curiosity. He loved gaming and could spend hours enjoying GTA, Minecraft, and Fortnite. He loved documentaries, his favorite color blue, and snacks that included purple Doritos, gummy candy, Hershey’s Cookies & Cream bars, and pineapple soda. His favorite phrase was always, “Do you have any snacks?”
Anthony had natural talent and skill in carpentry from a very young age. As a child, he amazed everyone by assembling Lego kits without ever needing instructions. He loved working with his hands and carried that passion into adulthood through his work at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Cambridge (food services) and at Wentworth College (maintenance).
In his younger years, Anthony loved attending Camp Joy overnight camp and looked forward to it every summer. He was proud to receive the Outstanding Camper Award, a reflection of his bright spirit and joyful personality.
Anthony was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he was saved at the age of 10 and baptized in 2024. He also sang in the choir and found comfort and purpose in his faith. One of his favorite songs was “God is Good,” a song that now carries even deeper meaning for those who loved him. Anthony’s smile and dimples could light up any room and often got him into trouble because he was such a charmer. He loved his family deeply and treasured every moment spent with those closest to him.
Anthony leaves to mourn and celebrate his life his family, friends, church family at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, the Charlestown High School community, his coworkers, and his longtime physician of sixteen years, Dr. Wolfson.
