Antonio Baptista

Apr 27, 1936 — Jul 8, 2026

Antonio "Totoi" "Tony" Baptista, age 90, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.

Antonio was born on April 27, 1936, on the island of Brava, Cabo Verde, to the late Ana Baptista Tavares. In 1963, he immigrated to the United States where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.

On July 12, 1969, Antonio married, Ana Dias, in Boston, Massachusetts. Together they shared many years of love, devotion, and cherished memories while raising their family.

Antonio worked as a cook before beginning a career as a bookbinder. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures. Antonio loved gardening, fishing, cooking, and playing musical instruments. He was an enthusiastic fan of professional wrestling and never missed an episode of his favorite television show, Sanford and Son. He also had a special affection for his cats, whom he lovingly cared for throughout the years.

Antonio is survived by his beloved wife, Ana Baptista; his children, Daniel, Antonio, Laura, and Edward; his grandchildren, Jackie, Gabrielle, Janae, and Nia; his great-grandchildren, Jolene and Jenalyse; his brother, Jose; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Stanley; his mother, Ana Baptista Tavares; and his siblings, Daniel, Manuel, Domingas, and Deolinda.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to the many family members and friends who have celebrated life's special moments with us and who have offered their love, prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time. We are truly blessed to have each of you in our lives.

Antonio will be remembered for his love of family, his generous heart, his warm spirit, and the lasting memories he created with everyone who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
