Calvin Cormier

July 7, 1953 — August 28, 2023

Calvin (Cutta) J Cormier, age 70, of Boston, MA passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2023 surrounded by his loving and devoted lifelong partner (better half) of 50 years, Darla Jackson. He was preceded by his beloved son Gregory Damon Cormier, who he adored, enjoyed music and basketball together with.

Calvin was one of three children born to the late Joseph J. and Helen (Hicks) Cormier. His siblings also predeceased him, Melvin J. Campbell, Sr. and Gregory Cormier. He is survived by one nephew, Melvin J. Campbell Jr. of Nashua, NH.

He attended Boston Public Schools and attended classes at Umass Boston. His life was marked by service and dedication to his community. A plumber by trade, worked for the MBTA (a member of Teamsters local 25), Boston Water and Sewer and the Boston Herald. Ultimately retiring from Sealcoating of Hingham, MA (where he was a member of Local 133 Laborers). Calvin also had a landscaping company with his friend Lee, which they called C&J Landscaping.

Calvin loved to cook (Louisiana style) especially Gumbo and Jambalaya. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and being with his second family, The Jacksons. Best of all he loved his truck and enjoyed driving around with his godson, Elijah, in Calvins words "His Main Man".

Throughout his life, he remained steadfast in his commitment to giving back and making a positive impact in the lives of others. His genuine connections in the community extended beyond friendships, they became chosen family. In return, Calvin gained unwavering love and support especially during challenging times. Words fail to convey just how thankful we are for their presence in his life.

We would also like to express sincere gratitude to the amazing staff of Beth Israel Deacon Medical Center, most of all, his cardiologist Dr. Hector Tamez and his clinical nurse Laura Curtin, his hematologist Dr. Nezam Afdhal, and his primary care doctor of MGH Dr. Daniel Horn, for their love and care that was provided to Calvin over the past few years. You made his days brighter and more comfortable and for that we are very grateful.

While we mourn the loss of Calvin, let us celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the profound influence he had for each of us. His memory will continue to inspire us as we strive to live with the same compassion and joy he always exemplified.

Although services are being held privately at this time, we will be planning a memorial service at a later date to celebrate his remarkable journey.

Rest in peace, Calvn. You will forever be loved and missed.
