It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Carla, who passed on April 28, 2026. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Carla was born on January 31, 1976, in Lisboa, Portugal to Maria Monteiro and Jose Correia. She migrated to the United States with her family in 1978. She attended Boston High School and went onto college, at Rhode Island Institute of Technology. There are so many words that we could use to describe Carla and the best ones are: smart, beautiful, funny, joyous, intuitive, humble, strong, creative, bubbly, supportive, and unpredictable.
To her parents, she was the eldest daughter and advocated for them. She always showed up for them. To her siblings, she was a second mother figure growing up. To her children, she was still mommy, although both her children are adults, she still made sure they knew they were still her babies. To her nieces, she was Auntie Cuckoo who always made them laugh and they would have sleepovers and watch movies. To her friends, she was the best kind of friend. She treated her friends more like family.
Carla made friends wherever she went and people embraced her easily. Her most prized treasures were her children, whom she held very close to her heart. She had the best jokes and could recall an entire scene word by word. She loved playing with her fur grandbaby, Mochi and fur baby, Bebito. She loved holidays, but birthdays and Halloween were her favorite. She enjoyed dressing up with her kids and nieces. Halloween was always an expression of her personality and creativity. She loved mystery and horror tv shows and movies. She loved baking sweet treats. She loved doing sing alongs to Disney music at family dinners with the kids. Her favorite foods were clam chowder, loaded potatoes, and lasagna which she made the best! And she really loved ice!
She was a light in our family; a light we wished was allowed to shine more. She was selfless, warm and always put others before herself. You can always expect the unexpected. Carla was known for giving unconditional love without expecting anything in return.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her parents, Maria Monteiro and Jose Correia. Her beautiful children, Vantasia Correia and Vante Brandao Correia. Her siblings: Jose Nunu Correia, Jennifer Correia, Tara Monteiro, Cieara Monteiro, and Evan Correia. Her nieces: Zenaya Mitchell, Annabelle Fernandes, Victoria Mitchell, and Ayva Gethers. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and long-time friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
"Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories"
The family invites friends to celebrate a life well-lived and wear any shade of blue in honor of Carla's favorite color.
