Clara Mae Manago

March 5, 1945 — June 16, 2025

Clara Manago, age 80, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2025. She was born on March 5, 1945, in Greensboro, Georgia, to the late Willie Henry and Lillie Belle Blockum.

Clara was a proud graduate of FT Corry High School. She went on to dedicate 38 years of service to New England Baptist Hospital, where she made many lifelong friends, including Loraine, Bridget, Sandra, Josephine, and Marcy. Affectionately known as “Nana” and “Grandma,”

Clara was a devoted matriarch whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her. She had a passion for cooking and baking—her fried chicken, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese were legendary family favorites.

Clara lovingly passed down her treasured recipes to her grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She enjoyed simple pleasures: chatting on the phone, watching her soap operas, taking walks with her beloved son Kevin, and snacking on peanut butter crackers and potato chips.

Clara is survived by her three children from her marriage to Edward Manago Sr.: Edward Manago Jr. (Deborah), Yvonne Manago-Williams, and Kevin Manago (Rita). She leaves behind seventeen beloved grandchildren: Tyrone, Donna, Antonio, Tonya, George, Unique, Jamal, Stephanie, Adriana, Ebanasia, Kaylisha, Fantasia, Edward III, Shaquille, Elijahquan, Kamari, and Kyara; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.

Clara is also survived by her siblings: Jenny, David (Daisy), Martha, Mary, and Marion; Aunt Miriam of GA; In laws: Tootsie and Bertha and a host of nieces and nephews from Georgia, Albany, NY and South Carolina.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Crystal Mungo and Eleven Manago-Sheffield; grandchildren Johnnie and Desmond; her siblings Kate and Donnell.

Clara is now reunited with those who went before her, resting in the peace and love of the Lord. Her legacy of love, kindness, and delicious meals will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
