Daniel Centeio

April 5, 1974 — February 5, 2024

Daniel "Din-Din" Centeio, 49, of Roxbury, MA, born to Maria Centeio and the late John Centeio, passed away on February 5, 2024. He is survived by his mother, Maria Centeio; brothers, Jose "DjeDje" Centeio, Jose "Ze" Centeio, John "Curly" Centeio, Gabriel "Gabe" Centeio; and two sisters, Margaret "Margie" Centeio, Maria "Poochie" Centeio - Kenfe and his late brother George "Georgie" Centeio who passed away in 1995. Daniel also leaves behind his son Daniel M. " Bum-Bum" Centeio, longtime partner Aretha "Ree" Hodge, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a dedicated father, first and foremost. He treasured his son and embraced every moment with him. He especially loved his role as Uncle Danny. He had a vivacious personality and always made people around him laugh. He made friends everywhere he went.

Daniel attended Dearborn Middle School and later got his GED. He worked for the food company Cara Donna, which distributes food and related products across New England on a wholesale basis. Daniel enjoyed spending time with his family outside on the steps and at family gatherings. Music was always playing in his presence; Michael Jackson, old-school Cape Verdean music, and old-school R&B were some of his favorites. One of his memorable phrases was, "Yo check this out right," which would lead to a conversation resulting in him being right about whatever topic he was discussing, which was usually politics.

Daniel loved dogs. His first dog was Baby, and his last dog was Gaia, who had a litter of puppies that a few nieces and nephews were thankful to have gotten. Both of his dogs are resting with him. He was crazy about his creation of Pedra Lumi Grogo de Cana in Cabo Verde with his best friend, Jose "Capri" Correia. They spent countless hours making labels and making sure the taste hit perfection.

The Daniel Centeio family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for your love, generosity, and support during this very difficult time.

His Final Resting will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams St., Dorchester.
