Rev. Dr. Denise Ann (White) Myers

Rev. Dr. Denise Myers passed away on September 4, 2025 in Boston, MA. Denise was born on December 13, 1952 in Newark, NJ to David White and Virginia (Brown) White. She graduated from Colonia High School in 1971 and went on to earn a Bachelor's from Northeastern University in 1976. She began her career as a full-time teacher in Boston Public Schools and went on to work for 37 years in education. Throughout her tenure in BPS, she was a well-respected colleague and developed a passion for ministry and preaching. Denise returned to complete graduate school and subsequently earned three Masters degrees, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2012.

Denise married Humphrey Myers on June 26, 1982 in Boston, MA. The couple had two daughters, Takia Myers and Chanda (Myers) Christopher. Denise ensured her daughters had the best of everything, and was extremely proud of them. She also loved cooking, singing, and dancing.

Denise is survived by her husband, Humphrey Myers; her daughters, Takia Myers and Chanda Christopher (Godfred Oduro), grandsons Taimir Morel and Alan Christopher; and her brother, David (Myron) White (Eva White) in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Denise is predeceased by her father, David White, mother, Virginia White, and brother, Mahmoud Ibn Dawud.

The service for Rev. Dr. Denise Myers will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
