Dennis Lee Jones was born on May 11, 1949, to John B. Jones and Bessie Jones in Brighton, Alabama. He was lovingly raised by his beloved aunt, Essie May, who played a foundational role in his life.
In 1969, Dennis relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he met his wife, Mary Jones. Together, they built a family rooted in love. Dennis worked for many years as a construction laborer, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and hands-on nature. His passion for cars later led him to become a mechanic, a role he embraced well into his later years. Dennis had an extraordinary ability to repair or replace just about anything on a car, a skill many relied on and admired.
Dennis lived a full and vibrant life. Known as the head chef of the family, he expressed his love through food. His specialty was Southern comfort cooking, and his kitchen was the heart of countless family gatherings. Whether during holidays or spontaneous cookouts, Dennis used his cooking as a way to bring people together and create lasting memories.
A devoted Boston sports fan, Dennis loyally cheered for his teams year after year. He also enjoyed trips to the casino, a favorite pastime he shared with his daughter Beverly and grandson Dennis—moments filled with laughter and connection.
Dennis was not only a husband, but also a deeply loved father. He is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law: Shirley Jones-Robinson and Eric Robinson, Beverly Jones, and Latisha Nelson and David Nelson. He also leaves behind a cherished legacy of grandchildren: Dennis Jones, Eric Jones, Jacari Mcconnico, Danaysha Jones, Enicqua Jones, Amari Griffin, Derrika Nelson, James Redrick, Christopher Redrick, Jamill Nelson, Aniyah Green, Darryl Green Jr., Daliyah Nelson, and Malachi Nelson.
Dennis was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Dallas Jones, Ciara Jones, O’Riah McNeil, Brevyn Jones, Breanne Jones, O’Janae Jones, Namari Jones, Onyx Jones, Alexis Redrick, Kaori Redrick, and Jacari Redrick Jr.
He leaves behind a loving extended family, including his sisters Jeraldine Jones, Claudia Jenkins, and Jennifer Howard and Ronald Howard; his brother John Jones; his favorite cousin Harry Brown; and ten nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jones (2015); his daughter, Vicktrina Redrick (2024); his brothers, William Hattick (2004) and Otis Jones (1946); and his sisters, Earline Jones Edwards (1985), Mary Jones (2001) and Clarice Early (2016).
A deeply caring and family-oriented man, Dennis opened his heart to many beyond his immediate family. He helped raise and love countless children, including Shana Jones, Jeremiah Jones, Harry Jones, Roberta Brinkley, Keon Green, Queenaira Goode, Anthony Huguley, and Nakia Redrick (2014), leaving a lasting impact on all their lives.
In 2023, Dennis bravely battled cancer and went into remission. Sadly, the cancer returned and ultimately took him from us on December 17, 2025. Dennis passed away at his home, as he wished, with family—specifically Jeremiah Jones—by his side.
Dennis has gone home and is reunited with many loved ones, including Darnell Cooper (2016), with whom he shared many cherished years and Deborah Redrick (2025), who is the mother of two of his children. His legacy of love, strength, generosity, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest well Dad, Grandpa, Baby.

Hero Dad
You are my Hero, dad you’re my secure foundation
When I think of you, I’m filled with Love and fond appreciation
You make me feel protected; I’m sheltered by your care
You’re always my true friend; and dad, when I need you, you’re always there
You have a place of honor deep within my heart
You’ve been my superhero, dad, right from the very start
⸻
Love you Daddy
Daddy, daddy, I love you
Thank you for all that you do
You are brave and strong
And we laughed all night long
And I wouldn’t want another
Daddy, I just want to say
I love you daddy

A Life Wrapped in Love
He walked among us steady and kind,
With working hands and a faithful mind.
A husband, a father, a friend so true,
His love was shown in all he’d do.
Through meals he cooked and lessons he gave,
In laughter shared and strength he displayed.
He built our home with heart and care,
A guiding presence always there.
Though he rests now in the Lord above,
We feel him still through the life he loved.
His legacy lives in each embrace—
A faithful man, now held in grace.
⸻
My Father’s Love
You taught me strength without a sound,
By simply standing your solid ground.
Your love was steady, firm, and sure,
A place where I always felt secure.
In quiet moments and words unspoken,
You showed me love that was never broken.
Though I must walk this road without you near,
Your voice still guides me, calm and clear.
Until the day we meet again,
I carry your love—my greatest gain.
My father, my anchor, my forever guide,
Rest now in peace, on Heaven’s side.
