Ernest R Jones

March 15, 1951 — November 25, 2019

Our beloved Ernest passed away on November 25, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 15, 1951. Ernie loved sports and he played Little League and Pony League with the Franklin Park Recreation and Roxbury North Softball League. He played second base and at times was the Pitcher. Ernie was a valued member to his team and he played his very best at every game. At a young age, Ernie was an Entrepreneur. He faithfully worked at the local neighborhood store, “Mr Jones’s“ throughout his childhood. Mr. Jones, the store owner, could always count on Ernie being there when he needed him. Ernie carried his Entrepreneurial skills into his adult life by purchasing and maintaining several homes both in Massachusetts and Florida. Ernie attended the Boston Public School System. He graduated from English High School in 1968. Following graduation, he received a four-year academic scholarship from Boston College where he completed two years. Afterwards, he attended college in Oregon for a couple of years. When he left school, he worked as a carpenter, brick mason, and all-around “Handy Man”. In the early 1980’s he and his partner, Paula ventured to Florida where he pursued year-round work opportunities in his various fields of expertise. In Florida, they had their first-born son, Ernie, Jr. In the early 90’s, they returned to Boston where they had two more children, Iesha and Keyvonte. Ernie was a proud and devoted Father. He was also Dad to Latia Bradshaw and Paula's youngest daughter, Frances Cannon. Ernie was loved by all of his friends and family. He had a long-standing relationship with his friends of many years known as the “Humbolt Crew” consisting of Poncho Brown; Twinkie Brown; Couch Dennis Wilson; Earl Wilson; Michael Edwards; Phil Jackson; Smoke Campbell; Gilbert White and many more. Ernie’s newest friends consisted of the residents and staff at Unquity House. Ernie had a quick-wit about him, as he was a real practical joker. All of his jokes ended with his signature, sparkling smile, and great sense of humor. Ernie is survived by his mother, Beatrice Jones
