Ianthy E. Squires, 83 of Milton, MA passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on November 24, 2024.
Ianthy was born in Chimborazo, St Joseph, Barbados to the late Joseph and Kathleen Eversley. She was one of three siblings, ( Ianthy always proudly said that she was a "daddy's little girl”) her brothers Ernest, and Vincent (deceased), and her adopted sister Maureen Worrell.
Ianthy was married to Theophilus for 26 years before his death in 1996. She was the beloved mother of Antonette Eversley, Yolande Eversley-Greene and Sandra Blackett. She was the adored Mother-In-Law of Dennis Greene. Grandmother of Shekora Eversley and Ashlei Parris, great grandmother of Ayden Eversley-Ambroise, Kaleb Parris, and Skylar Arthur.
Ianthy attended St. Bernard’s Primary School in Airy Hill, St. Joseph and then the Arlington High School in St. Michael. She started her Nursing career at Beckles Infirmary as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later as a Nurse at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the Maternity ward. In 1969, Ianthy was given the opportunity to migrate to Boston to help with the nursing shortage in the USA. Ianthy started her first assignment in June 1969, at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center and retired in March 2010. She held several positions during her tenure, but her most notable was the last position she held as the Charge Nurse on the first floor of the Bergerson building at The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center.
Another one of Ianthy’s greatest accomplishments was being the President of the Women’s Missionary group at the Beulah Pilgrim Holiness Church, a position she was voted into several times.
Ianthy was witty, had a sharp tongue, her comebacks during conversations were amazing and surprisingly razor sharp. One would never expect this from a person who seemed so serious. She was a loving and generous lady and will surely be missed by all who knew and cherished her.
May She Rest in Eternal Peace
