Jane Sarah Prince, 62 affectionately known as "Janie," "Princess," or "Auntie" to all who loved her, was born on April 20, 1963, in Brockton Massachusetts, to her late parents, Cecelia and William Prince. After a courageous battle with cancer, Jane entered into eternal rest on January 04, 2026; held in the love and presence of those who supported her throughout her journey and remained by her side as she took her final breath.
Jane began high school at Brockton before transferring to Stoughton, where she continued to discover her strengths. Determined to build a meaningful future, she joined the Job Corps program in Westover, earning her high school diploma in 1982 along with certifications as a Nursing Assistant and a Teacher's Aide, early signs of her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Jane began motherhood when she gave birth to her precious son, Stephen, who was lost to SIDS in infancy. Jane persevered and had two beloved sons with Wilbert Lewis, Marcus, and Joshua, whom she loved deeply. Jane loved her entire family with all her heart. Through every season, good or challenging, Jane chose peace over conflict. withholding grudges, she embraced forgiveness, letting go of hurt, and moving forward in love and joy.
Jane's life embodied resilience, compassion, and strength. After experiencing homelessness, she found hope and purpose at Rosie's Place, where refuge became service and she eventually joined the staff as the Clothing Room Assistant. Her commitment to helping others extended throughout Boston and Cambridge. She volunteered with Close to Home to prevent domestic and sexual violence, and at Solutions at Work she grew from volunteer to staff member, supporting families and offering steadiness and dignity to women and individuals in crisis through the Children's Exchange, SolutionWear, Green Street Shelter, and Caring About People Programs. Jane also did some PCA work, caring for those who couldn't care for themselves. Her life's work touched countless lives and reflected kindness at her core.
Jane was known for her pure heart and her extraordinary gift for spreading love and light wherever she went. Her energy was infectious, bright, and full of life. Her playful humor brought joy to those around her, often transforming even the hardest days into moments of laughter and connection. She loved music, dancing, and good food, and she delighted in sharing those joys with others. Her favorite colors were purple and white, and she often asked for things in sevens, the biblical number of completion. Above all, Jane loved her family and friends deeply and had a special tenderness for children. Her grandchildren were the absolute light of her life, and she adored them beyond measure.
Jane spoke openly about her faith, sharing hope, positivity, and God's love with everyone around her. She gave generously, served with joy, and cared with conviction. Strong‑willed and steadfast, she protected those she loved and lived by her values. Her Christian faith was central to her life, and she attended weekly Bible study with her late partner, Michael Williamson, the love of her life and her closest companion. Together they weathered hardship with courage and perseverance, their bond standing as a testament to resilience and the power of love.
