Samir Jerome Noel Stanley, a man whose life brimmed with love, laughter, and kindness, peacefully departed on December 17, 2023, at the age of 69. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1954, to the late Noel Christian Stanley and late Lucille Greene Stanley, Samir's journey was characterized by a gentle nature, a compassionate heart, and an unwavering loyalty to those he held dear.
As the eldest of five siblings, Samir's familial role extended beyond his immediate family, casting a guiding light for his brothers and sisters. His wisdom and warmth created a foundation of strength and support that resonated throughout his extended family.
Samir is survived by his son Christian Howell, daughter-in-law Neycole Howell, daughter Paloma Milagros Stanley, and daughter Sienna Louise DeSantis. His legacy of love reverberates through generations, touching the lives not only of his immediate family but also of his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Christian Howell Jr, Sandra Pierre Howell, Christal Howell, Cortney Howell, Dylan Howell, Eric Princeton Perry, and Nzuri Paloma Gilmere, Savannah Howell and Elijah Howell. Additionally, he leaves behind his sisters, Deborah Stanley, Saundra Stanley, and Jaqueline Stanley Oyegunle, his brother Robert Stanley. Their collective grief reflects the deep bond of family that Samir so cherished.
He attended Dorchester High School, where he began to shape the foundations of a life dedicated to family, music, and service.
In his professional life, Samir discovered purpose and camaraderie as a School Bus Driver. Assuming the additional role of Chief Steward of the union, he fearlessly advocated for the rights and well-being of his fellow coworkers, embodying a commitment to justice and fairness. Throughout his career, Samir dedicated himself to the well-being and safety of the children he transported, earning the admiration and affection of students, parents, and colleagues alike from February 1982 until his retirement in April 2022.
Samir's life was a symphony of joy, with music and motorcycles playing central roles. His passion for music led him to become the lead singer of the band "Honey Dip," where his soulful voice echoed through melodies that linger in the hearts of those who heard them. A skilled musician, he found joy in playing the drums, bass, and guitar.
As we bid farewell, let us remember Samir Jerome Noel Stanley for the love, laughter, and kindness he generously shared. May his memory endure, echoing through the music he played, the roads he traveled on his motorcycle, and the laughter he generously shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his spirit continue to resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
