With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Lena M. Remy, who entered eternal rest after a courageous journey. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Vernice Battle and Rosa Lee Thomas, Lena was raised with strong values that shaped the way she lived and cared for others. She later made her home in the Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan areas. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and pursued additional studies in special needs education.
Lena dedicated more than 30 years of her life to working in the education system, helping children with special needs who required extra care and understanding. Her patience, warmth, and nurturing spirit allowed her to connect with young hearts and create environments where children felt safe, supported, and valued.
Through her dedication, she touched the lives of countless students and families. Her radiant smile, kind heart, welcoming presence, and comforting words brought peace wherever she went. Whether offering encouragement, sharing laughter, or simply listening with compassion, Lena made people feel seen and loved.
Lena was united in marriage to the late Clarence W. Remy, Sr., and together they shared many years of love and devotion. From this union came three children: Sheryll Remy-Francis (son-in-law Stephen Francis), Lisa Remy-Kelley, and the late Clarence W. Remy, Jr.
She is survived by one sister, Alfreda Hall. She was predeceased by one sister and one brother.
Lena was an aunt and a cousin; her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many beloved friends.
A Love of Travel
Lena loved to travel, and Paris held a special place in her heart. Inspired by that love, she redesigned her kitchen with touches reflecting the elegance of the city— a space she lovingly called "Paris."
Joy in Every Moment
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, gathering with loved ones, and sharing laughter and conversation.
A Lasting Spirit
Though she has entered eternal rest, her kindness, strength, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
