Lucy L. Dumas (née Luke), age 76, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Born on September 24, 1949, in Augusta, Georgia. Lucy lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and deep-rooted faith.
Lucy devoted her professional life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Mattapan Community Health Center. Her commitment to service extended beyond her career and into her spiritual life. A devoted Christian, she was an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she found joy and purpose serving alongside fellow nurses and participating in the Women's Auxiliary Ministry.
Family was central to Lucy's life. She shared a close bond with her mother, Denolias Luke; her sister cousin, Gloria Harris; and her brothers Robert Luke and Cantrell Luke. She also cherished her relationship with her significant other, Randall Moon. Lucy held a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law, Aretha Green-Robinson. She carried the memory of her beloved son, Tyrone N. Robinson-who preceded her in death on February 10, 2021-with enduring love and pride.
Lucy was also predeceased by her brothers William Luke and James Luke.
Those who knew Lucy will remember her as a deeply caring person who brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. She had an extraordinary memory-what many fondly called a "mind trap"-and could recount stories from her childhood in Georgia or moments raising Tyrone with such vivid detail that listeners felt transported into those memories themselves. Whether reminiscing with Gloria about their Southern roots or sharing tales of motherhood, Lucy's storytelling was both captivating and heartfelt.
Her love for music and dancing added joy to every gathering. Whether it was gospel hymns or soulful classics, Lucy found happiness in rhythm and movement-a reflection of the vibrant spirit she carried throughout her life.
May the memory of Lucy L. Dumas bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
