Marion Pearce, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, Massachusetts. She was 76 years old.

Marion was born on February 17, 1950, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in St. Michael, Barbados. Raised and educated in St. Philip, she carried the warmth, traditions, strength, and deep sense of family she learned there throughout her entire life. On October 22, 1967 she proudly welcomed her loving son, Jerome into the world. In the early 1970s, she made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, crossing an ocean to begin a new chapter and build a meaningful life for herself and her son.

In America, Marion worked several jobs, including a memorable time at Woolworth’s—where she impressively memorized every department's telephone number, a sharp skill she retained for the rest of her life. In the late 70s, she began a distinguished career at Massachusetts General Hospital. Starting as a Radiology Service Representative in the call center, Marion’s hard work, determination, and natural leadership propelled her to become the lead trainer for both the call center and front-desk areas.

Marion was strong-willed and independent. When she set her mind to something, she made it happen. Affectionately nicknamed "Popee" or "Aunt Popee" her famous saying, “My way or the highway,” captured her vibrant personality perfectly and will undoubtedly bring a smile to the faces of those who knew her best.

Through her relentless work ethic, Marion created a life she was truly proud of. She was the bedrock of her family—someone who could always be depended on and who showed her love through actions rather than just words.

She jointly purchased her property and took immense pride in providing a beautiful home where family could gather. She especially loved Christmas and enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating her home for all to enjoy. Homemade pudding and souse were two of her many specialties. Cooking brought her joy, was an expression of love and a way to share her Barbadian heritage.

Marion possessed a generous heart and a special way of making people feel remembered. A passionate QVC shopper, she rarely ordered just one of anything. If Marion found something she liked, she was likely ordering two—one for herself and another to send to her sister Patricia in Barbados, a friend out of state, or another loved one. It was simply her way of saying, “I thought of you.”

Underneath her strong exterior was a trusting, giving, and genuine woman who cared fiercely for her inner circle. Over the years, Marion’s gratitude toward the Lord grew profoundly; she knew it was by His grace and mercy that she accomplished so much. While staying at AdviniaCare in Salem, MA she faithfully attended Saturday services, finding great comfort in worshipping and praising the Lord alongside her peers.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Violin Pearce, and her brothers, Richard and Rupert Pearce.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Deirdre Pearce; her sister, Patricia Pearce; her cherished grandchildren, Maureen and Adrian; her great-grandchildren, Taj Alexander Oliver, Satoru Solomon Onco, and Sequoyah Sakura Onco; her goddaughter, Wynel “Jackie” Byfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones near and dear to her heart.

Marion’s life was a testament to perseverance, family, and love. She will be forever remembered for her strength, her unmatched determination, her generosity, and, of course, her unwavering belief in doing things “her way.” Though she is no longer with us, her vibrant spirit and legacy live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.

May she rest peacefully and forever be remembered with love.
