Meekelia Corlene West

June 23, 1976 — December 11, 2021

Meekelia Corlene West, known to many as Nicky, was born June 23rd, 1976, to Ms. Carmen Reid and Mr. Keith West on the beautiful Island of Jamaica in the city of Kingston. In the Winter of 1993, Nicky moved to Boston, MA, where she attended Hyde Park High and later attended Salem State College. There’s no surprise that Nicky ended up working in the Hospitality Industry in managerial roles with the legacy of cooking in her family. Nicky was a sweet and loving soul but would “keep it real” and make sure she was heard and taken seriously. She was an avid sports enthusiast! She loved Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls but supported her local teams like The Patriots, particularly Tom Brady. She supported her teams whether they won or lost. She loved to read and many times lost herself in a good book. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, & friend. Life is a series of ups and downs, and Nicky’s diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer was a down that we would wish would have never come. However, at this time, Nicky’s resilient and robust spirit showed itself the most. Garnering strength from her Creator, she lived her life showing his love and kindness to all. Nicky’s earthly departure was on December 11, 2021. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Ms. Carmen Reid, her daughters Monteria Ethier and Malia West, her son-in-law Aiden Ethier, her sisters Valerie Williams, Rushekia Reid, Charmaine West Lois West; Brothers, Neville West, Omar West, and Winston West and good friend Avril “Terry” Etienne along with her nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. She’s now at rest with her creator.
