Miriam Maria Sanchez

November 28, 1941 — December 27, 2020

On Sunday, December 27, 2020 at approximately 2:40 am., Miriam Maria Sanchez, loving Mother of five, grandmother of ten, passed away at the age of 79. Miriam was born on November 28, 1941 in Ocoa, Dominican Republic to Thelma Sanchez and Ramon Mella. She came to this country on February 14, 1984 (one of her life long dreams). She achieved the completion of her High School Diploma and obtained her United States Citizenship. She worked as a housekeeper at both the Marriott Hotel and the Omni Parker Hotel for over thirty-six years, retiring nine years ago. Miriam raised five children, three sons, Luis, Juan and Ricardo and two daughters, Elizabeth and Iliana. Miriam had a passion for life and loved her family dearly. One of the fondest childhood memories that her daughter Iliana recalls is her mother’s resilience in tough times. One hot night in the Dominican Republic, Miriam took out a mattress and placed it outside of the house so the cool breeze could give some relieve to her young children while they slept. She did not own an AC or fans and so she spent the whole night awake fanning her kids. That is the type of dedication she had for everyone that came into her life. Miriam LOVED to travel and in particular to cruise. She travelled to the Caribbean, Disney and Europe. Miriam was preceded in death by her father, Ramon, her mother Thelma, and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Thelma Colon, her granddaughter Maciel Brismian Gonzalez, her son Luis Rodolfo Colon, grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Colon, Lissandra Colon, Melissa Colon, Ermias Colon, her son Juan Tomas Diaz, grandchildren, Gabriel Tomas Diaz-Navarro, Ariel Jesus Diaz-Navarro, daughter Iliana Diaz, grandchildren Andreina De Los Angeles Diaz, Michael Manuel Marrero ll, Katalina Denaris Marrero and son, Ricardo Diaz. Miriam is also survived by siblings, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. A final message from Ricardo to his mother: “If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk in my own garden forever...I will miss you and you're always in my heart wherever I go until we meet again I love you mom!” Service Attendance - BY INVITATION ONLY Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time) at Floyd-Williams Funeral Home - 490 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA.
