If you plan to attend, please note the following request from the family:
"Most of you know that our mom adored purple and parrot green... and those regal church hats were her signature. We're encouraging everyone to wear a hat OR one of her favorite colors to her home-going celebration as a tribute to her, if at all possible."
OBITUARY
The Legacy of Norma Eleanor Lewis Brown
Norma Eleanor Lewis Brown was born on the 10th of July, 1948, at Hargreaves Memorial Hospital in Mandeville Manchester. One of ten children, she attended Mile Gully School, where she excelled academically and received a scholarship in June 1962. Norma's commitment to her education and love for her country was evident from a young age, and she was honored to be involved in planting a tree at Mile Gully school on the 6th of August 1962 to celebrate Jamaica's independence.
Norma attended Holmwood Technical High, and following her passion for teaching children, furthered her education at Cainwood Teachers College and Moneague Teachers College. She poured her heart into teaching, working at schools in Jamaica and the United States, and also made her mark in the healthcare field.
In 1973, she married Floyd James Oliver Brown, and this union brought about three children: Gail, Kevin, and Jada. Norma eventually migrated with her family to the United States in 1986, where they initially settled in New York before officially making Boston their home. It was here that her family later grew to include another daughter, JoAnn, and two beautiful grandchildren, Olivia and Quentin.
Norma's acts of kindness knew no bounds, as she consistently went above and beyond to help others without seeking any recognition. She embodied a humility and generosity that is unparalleled. Though she may be physically absent, Norma's spirit continues to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her and experience her love.
Preceded in death by her husband Floyd Brown and sister Phyllis Badwah. Norma is survived by her loving daughters Gail Brown and Jada Brown; her son and his wife, Kevin and JoAnn Brown; grandchildren Olivia Brown and Quentin Brown; siblings Judith Murray, Mary Davis, Paulette Taylor, Faye Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, in-laws, family, and friends that extend around the globe.
As we bid farewell to Norma Brown, we honor her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. We know she is at home finally in the arms of her Heavenly Father, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

The Starfish Story
Walking the beach one morning, a man could see, in the distance, someone moving quickly along the waterline, as if in a dance.
As he came closer, he realized it was a young woman, picking up starfish and gently throwing them into the water “Young lady,“ he asked. “What are you doing?”
“Throwing starfish back into the ocean,” she replied. "The surf is up, and the tide is going out. If I do not throw them back, they will die.”
The man laughed to himself. “ Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t get them you can’t possibly make a difference”
The woman listened politely, then bent down and picked up another starfish, throwing it back into the sea. “ I made a difference for that one.”
