Pearline (Stallings) Johnson

Our Beloved Mother Pearline (Edmond) Stallings-Johnson passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15th, 2024 at the age of 88. 

Pearline was born in Starkville, Mississippi on January 20th, 1936, to Mary Sharp and Calvin Edmond. Pearline was educated through the Starkville public school system and was raised by her father and Stepmother, Calvin and Lucy Edmond. It was also in Starkville, where Pearline met her first husband, Andrew Stallings. In search of a better life, together she and Andrew started a family and moved to Boston. Pearline went on to have nine children, all of whom were born and raised in the city of Boston. Upon the resolution of her first marriage, Pearline remarried James Edgar Johnson.  Although she and James (Jimmy) did not have any biological children together, he was a supportive stepfather to all nine of her children. 

Pearline was most notably known for her loving and undying dedication to her family. She was an extremely hard worker who devoted her life to the service of others. Throughout her life, she worked as a certified nursing assistant, served adults with developmental disabilities, fostered troubled youth, counseled women who were victims of domestic violence and served the homeless population. Pearline also had a relationship with The Lord. She was long time member of the Columbus Ave AME Zion Church. There she served as an Usher on The Sadie Thornhill Usher Board and as a Missionary for The Edna Medley Rose Club.

Pearline was truly beautiful inside and out. She was a kind, generous, caring, and loving soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Pearline is survived by her children Francine (Stallings) Cole, Charles Stallings and his wife, Sheila, Barbara Stallings, Bernard Stallings and his wife, Samaria. Her sisters, Annie Edmond, and Earnestine Aderinto. Her Grandchildren George Stallings, Antoine (Jamal) Stallings and his Fiancé, Kei, Charles (Chuck) Stallings and his wife, Clara, Keta Irby, Paul Abrams, Danielle Stallings, Deshia White, Andrea Stallings, Kyanna Lees and her husband, Jon (Jack), Steven Stallings and his wife Holly, Joshua Williams and his Fiancé, Kellie, Justin Cole and his Fiancé, Jessica, Gianni Ragland and Skye Stallings. Pearline also leaves behind a host of great grandchildren, extended family, and friends. 

Pearline was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Sharp, Her Father, and Stepmother: Calvin, and Lucy Edmond. Her husband, James E. Johnson. Her Children: Paul Stallings, Frederick Stallings, James Stallings, Moses Stallings, and Andrea Stallings. Her sister, Helen Jean Kemp, her Son in law, Wayne Cole Sr. and her grandson, Reginald DePaul Cummings.
