It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Dias-Toppin, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.
Our wildflower was brilliant, strong, determined, creative, brave, and adventurous. She was compassionate, fiercely devoted to the people she loved, and deeply committed to preserving joy for herself and those around her through every phase of her journey. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering authenticity left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ryan was a standout scholar from an early age. Her exceptional academic achievements, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, humility, adaptability, and confidence continually opened doors. Through the Steppingstone program, she earned admission to the prestigious Commonwealth School in Boston's Back Bay and later attended Wesleyan University, where she studied Music and Sociology.
The relationships she cultivated throughout her educational journey positioned her to champion and amplify the work of emerging artists and creatives through her career in a variety of spaces, including Art Basel Miami, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and music and arts festivals throughout the Boston area. Ryan was an advocate, a connector, a leader, and a dreamer whose influence extended far beyond the rooms she entered. Her impact on her community and the people she uplifted will be felt for years to come.
Ryan's life story was one of love, connection, and discovery. She was adopted and lovingly raised by Louis and Jane Toppin, whose guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love helped shape the remarkable woman she became. Knowing her adoption story from an early age, Ryan's curiosity and determination eventually led her to reconnect with her biological family. She embraced the opportunity to learn more about her roots and built meaningful, lasting relationships with her biological relatives. These connections became a cherished part of her life and deepened her appreciation for the many people who contributed to her story.
At just 33 years old, Ryan's life was far too short, but it was rich with purpose, love, adventure, and meaningful connection. She passed away shortly after beginning one of the happiest chapters of her life as a newlywed with her soulmate and devoted husband, Jeremy Dunn. Together they built a love rooted in friendship, partnership, laughter, and unwavering support.
Ryan will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, generosity, adventurous spirit, and extraordinary ability to make others feel seen, valued, and loved. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jeremy; her adoptive family; her biological family; and a wide circle of friends, mentors, colleagues, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory and carry her light forward.
Though her time with us was brief, Ryan lived fully, loved deeply, and inspired countless people to do the same. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the dreams she encouraged, and the love she shared so freely.
