It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Samuel George Dawkins, who departed this life on September 19, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts. A devoted Christian, loving father, cherished grandfather, and treasured great-grandfather, Samuel touched countless lives with his unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and enduring strength.
Born on May 1, 1944, in Smithville, Clarendon, Jamaica, he was the beloved son of Leonard Dawkin and Aneta Dawkins. In 2003, Samuel made the courageous decision to leave the lush hills of Jamaica and begin a new chapter in Boston, carrying with him a spirit rooted in love, resilience, and grace.
Samuel leaves behind a powerful legacy of compassion and faith that continues to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved children: Andrea Bankston, Mishelle Simmonds, and Leon Dawkins; his dear siblings: Sebert Dawkins, Cleveland Dawkins, Sylvia Dawkins, Christopher Dawkins, Muriel Dawkins-White, Aseneth Dawkins-Sinclair, and Rosalyn Dawkins-Johnson; his loving grandchildren: Abigail Smith, Brandon Bankston Jr., Brandon Bankston III, Jason Simmonds Jr., Marissan Dawkins, Shawn Dawkins, and Asa Dawkins. He also leaves his precious great-grandchildren: Amari Hines and Ahmir Hines, a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that his light continues to shine through the love he gave and the lives he touched. Samuel’s faith, laughter, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
With heartfelt sorrow,
