Sandra Leah Johnson

Sandra Leah Johnson was born on April 30, 1962, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Sanford E. White and Willie Mae Bibb. She was raised in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood and was the youngest of three siblings. She shared her childhood with her sisters, Lynn and Jean, along with her bonus sister, Addie, who was also an important part of her family.

Sandra's greatest role in life was that of a mother. On December 10, 1985, she welcomed her first son, Douglas Lauman Johnson Jr. Three years later, on November 27, 1988, she welcomed her second son, Keith Michael Johnson.

On July 8, 1990, Sandra married her beloved husband, Douglas Johnson Sr. The following year, on May 4, 1991, they welcomed their son, William Sanford Johnson. Sandra devoted her life to raising her three sons and creating a loving, secure home for her family.

Sandra was a devoted mother, grandmother, and hardworking provider. She made it her mission to ensure that her children were loved, cared for, and never went without. She worked at Iron Mountain as a file transporter before eventually becoming a lunch mother at several Boston Public Schools. No matter where she worked, her heart always remained with her family. She worked hard not only to provide for her children, but also to give them the opportunities and things she felt they deserved.

To those who knew her, Sandra was affectionately known as "Sandy," although she would be the first to tell you that she did not particularly care for that name. But to her children's friends, the neighborhood children, and so many people who passed through her home, she was simply "Ma."

And being "Ma" was more than a nickname-it was who she was.

If you walked through Sandra's front door, you were welcomed, fed, cared for, and made to feel like family. Her home was a place where children and friends could come in and feel safe. She had a loving and caring spirit that reached far beyond her immediate family. Many people grew up knowing that they could count on Ma.

Sandra also had a deep love for cooking. Her passion for food was a beautiful reflection of her Southern roots and her family's love of cooking and baking. She found joy in preparing meals and bringing people together around the table. For Sandra, food was never just food-it was love, comfort, family, and connection. The memories created in her kitchen will remain treasured by those who had the privilege of sharing them with her.

Sandra's family continued to be her greatest joy throughout her life.

Becoming a grandmother brought her a special kind of happiness, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her grand daughter Mariyah Michaela Johnson. She loved deeply, protected fiercely, and gave endlessly. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer advice, prepare a meal, or simply be there when someone needed her.

Sandra's legacy is found in the family she loved, the people she cared for, and the countless lives she touched. She showed those around her that family matters, that hard work matters, and that love is often expressed through the simple acts of caring for one another.

Though she may no longer be standing at the door, sitting at the table, cooking in the kitchen, or making sure everyone has what they need, her spirit will remain in the stories we tell, the meals we share, the laughter we remember, and the love she gave so freely.

Sandra Leah Johnson was loved by many, hated by few, and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
