Stephen Mikell, affectionately known as "Stevie," answered God's call in the early morning hours of January 3, 2026, and peacefully transitioned to his Heavenly home. Born on June 4, 1957, in Statesboro, Georgia, Stevie was the cherished son of the late Emma and Levester Mikell, Sr.
Stevie received his education through the Boston Public School system, attending Mason Elementary School and Timilty Junior High School before graduating from Boston High School. He went on to work in a variety of hospitals and healthcare facilities, where he served in several roles, including as a security guard.
Known for his joyful spirit and genuine love for people, Stevie deeply valued time spent with family and friends. He found great joy in lively gatherings, cookouts, and celebrations, always bringing warmth, laughter, and a welcoming presence wherever he went. Among his favorite pastimes were visits to local casinos, and he also enjoyed traveling to other cities to experience concerts and live events— embracing each trip as an opportunity for fun, adventure, and new memories.
A proud Boston native, Stevie was a devoted fan of all things Boston-sports and entertainment alike-and was rarely seen without his beloved Boston T-shirts, which he wore with pride.
Stevie was preceded in death by his siblings James Mikell, Willie Slater, Loreatha Slater, Johnny Slater, and Essie Mikell Johnson, as well as his stepmother, Bernice Mikell.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holmes, and stepchildren, Tamia and Marquis. He also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted siblings Levester Mikell, Jr. (Machell), Judy Jackson (Michael), Dorothy Clifton, Lucy Driggers, and Norman Driggers; his loving aunt, Shirley Robinson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, stepsiblings, and dear friends.
Stevie's life was a testament to love, joy, and connection. While his presence will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that he has answered God's call and now rests peacefully in eternal joy. His laughter, warmth, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23)
