Willie J. Simmons was born on September 4, 1942, to the late Willie and Lizzie Simmons. He passed away on July 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Willie came to Boston in 1965 from Selma, Alabama and attended RB Hudson High School. He had a passion for sports, played on the high school football team. Willie fell in love and married Ola Flannigan in 1965. Willie loved going to church and giving praise. Willie was a family an who enjoyed being surrounded by his loved ones. He loved watching sports and enjoyed watching Western movies and Sandford & Sons in his favorite chair. Ola would yell from the other room “Jeff tun the tv down. He worked multiple jobs over the years to support his family, and he loved fishing. Willie was a loving and caring Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother and Uncle.
Willie was in a singing group call “The Holy Ghost Travels” and a member of “The Brotherhood Choir” at Holy Tabernacle Church. He had a storefront location at Mr. G’s alongside Ms. Carol.
Willie is preceded by His Parents Willie and Lizzie Simmons, his siblings, Sister Elvira Simmons, Brothers Eli, Deyampert and Jessie Simmons.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Ola Simmons, his six children, Bryant, Willie Jr., (Donna) Marky, (Jackie) Kecia, Alanda, and Keith (Martha) Simmons, His Sister Lizette, 25 Grandkids, and 28 Great-Grandkids. A host of Nieces and Nephews.
